Our 20/20 Vision, an energy reduction effort to reduce our energy use and costs by 20 percent, is in full swing. Many of the operating groups have continually stepped up to the challenge, and I wanted to specifically call out the metro New York Group which reduced its local energy use by 10 percent – a reduction equivalent to powering 22 local homes for a year.
Our New York team has been working hard to find new ways to make their operations more energy-efficient and sustainable. Automatic temperature and lighting controls and more efficient HVAC systems, in addition to upgrading to energy-efficient lighting and other measures, all contributed to greater energy and cost reductions across the region.
But there’s more to this effort than meets the eye. At Enterprise, we’ve integrated the fundamentals of sustainable business operations into the way we prepare and train the next generation of our company’s leaders, most importantly through our flagship Management Training Program. The program ensures that trainees learn all the skills that go into running an efficient and successful business. And, these days, it’s essential that their training equips them from the ground up to run an environmentally sustainable business.
It’s all part of our commitment to ensure that our team has the tools to drive Enterprise’s long-term success. And it’s exciting to watch, as the members of our team become champions for our responsible and forward-looking approach to managing our company.
